4DLAP® is a hydrophilic, partially resorbable implant designed for the treatment of inguinal hernias for laparoscopic and open approaches.
The 4DMesh concept lies in the 75% Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) resorption which initially provides maximal strength to prevent early recurrences and in the long-term, leaves a small amount of material and persistent tensile strength for patient comfort.
Partially resorbable:
PLLA combined with polypropylene leads to an absence of mesh shrinkage and lower inflammation. This provides a better tolerance in comparison to 100% polypropylene meshes. The in-vivo animal study also shows earlier and higher amounts of collagen fibres being developed, providing early support for abdominal wall repair.
...specifically in laparoscopy, thanks to the hydrophilic attribute of PLLA that holds the mesh in place against the abdominal wall.
